Waverly Hills Sanatorium
Waverly Hills Sanatorium in Louisville was a tuberculosis hospital until its later reputation as a frightening ghost house. Ghostly figures, hair-raising screams, and unexplained grazes: guests have reported seeing shadowy figures scurrying about, followed by disembodied voices and even feeling the unexplained touch of what could potentially be a passing ghost. Sights of a different nature further terrorize this tunnel as it is known as ‘the Death Tunnel’.
Bobby Mackey’s Music World
Known as the “most haunted nightclub in America,” this lively honky-tonk in Wilder has earned itself a spooky reputation. Normally in cause like this, the basement of the building would be the site of a former slaughterhouse, but not this one. There are traces of a sinister association, Satanic rituals at the site, and visitors have reported the sounds of strange things, physical attacks, and ghosts. Paranormal investigators have been called to the scene many times to get ghostly voices and other eerie sounds on tape.
The Louisville Palace Theater
This lavish theatre is which is allegedly home to several resident ghosts, opened in 1928. Guests have claimed to have heard eerie music being played and feeling cold spots on the balcony where the ghost of a woman is said to linger. This place is a ghost hunting and paranormal enthusiast’s hot spot.
Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill
Beautiful as it is haunted, this 19th century Shaker community near Harrodsburg has a sinister habit of scaring away guests. Known for it’s mysterious footsteps, ghostly whispers, apparitions all happening all over the settlement from the village lodges to the meeting houses. People believe the spirits of the Shakers who had lived there were bound to their homes and many believe they still roam the area.
Octagon Hall
This unique Civil War-era Franklin home is said to be haunted by the soldiers who died on the grounds. There are various reports of the spirits of Confederate soldiers and little children seen in the halls. That’s a historical home where the brave can still experience all the spooky sights that haunted houses have to offer.
Perryville Battlefield
Perryville Battlefield, the site of one of Kentucky’s bloodiest Civil War battles, is haunted by its dead soldiers. Phantom gun shots, marching sounds and apparitions of soldiers have all been reported by visitors to the area. People say the spirits are still at war, they can’t escape the place where they were killed.
Liberty Hall
Liberty Hall is a haunted mansion in the town of Frankfort with a depressing past that has birthed several ghost stories. The “Gray Lady”, the spirit of a young woman who met her end within the walls of the home is known to haunt this residence making its residents feel like they are not alone and leaving the guests feeling strange after their paranormal interaction.
The Seelbach Hotel
This hotel’s resident ghost, ‘The Lady in Blue’ has sprung the Louisville lodge to fame. The woman is thought to be a ghost who died on the hotel’s staircase in a blue dress. Her presence adds to the eerie atmosphere of this hotel. Guests and staff have reported seeing ghostly blue figures wandering the halls.
Mammoth Cave National Park
Famous for its virtually bottomless underground caverns, Mammoth Cave has been rife with accidents, lost explorers, and other similar strange occurrences. Henry Clay lived in Lexington’s Ashland Estate a known historical site but by many accounts haunted one as well.
